Details: The 2006 Buxton Festival held between the 7th and 23rd of July - aims to build on the success of the 2005 Festival which achieved record ticket sales of over 35,000.

Four Operas
This year’s event will feature four operas produced by the Festival – The Fair Maid of Perth by Bizet, Armide by Gluck, Pimpinone by Telemann and Benjamin Britten’s community opera Noye’s Fludde, as well as four productions from visiting opera companies.

Literary Series
The 2006 literary series will feature 18 of the UK’s most esteemed literary names from the world of journalism including Gavin Hewitt and Kate Adie; television and film including Gloria Hunniford and Prunella Scales; as well as some well know local personalities including the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire and Matthew Parris.

Concert series
The Festival’s concert series plays host to a varied and unusual mix of music of the highest standard ranging from John Lill to Emma Kirkby.
