Star Toad cottage is an attractive 17thcentury stone cottage overlooking the Peak District National Park. Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is ideal for two couples sharing. The cottage is centrally located between Matlock and Bakewell and the perfect choice for couples or families of any age wanting to escape together to enjoy luxury, peace and quiet in an idyllic country village setting. The Cottage is situated in the centre of the village of Two Dales in a small courtyard with 5 other houses, there is open countryside next door and wonderful walks right from the door in both directions, yet the village pub, local butcher, shop and bus stop are all just 5 minutes walk away. We live just 5 minutes drive away and are ready to help should you need us and meet all guests on arrival but then leave you to enjoy your holiday TARIFF AND AVAILABILITY During 2010 Toad Cottage prices range from £300.00 to £535.00 depending on the time of year. The only extra charges are £20.00 for a dog or £20.00 if you wish to put in an extra guest on the sofa bed. We do short breaks throughout the year from Monday - Friday (4 nights) or Friday - Monday (3 nights) please see our prices and availability page. More Information Toad Cottage is a warm and welcoming stone cottage with the original two feet thick stone walls giving you a real feeling of a traditional old cottage. With a tiled floor in the hall and kitchen and original old Victorian open fire but at the same time it is spacious and full of light. In the sitting room it has large exposed beams and the original sash windows. It has a very cosy feeling at night to sit down in front of the open fire and relax. There are two spacious bedrooms the master bedroom has a king size bed with an en-suite attached and the twin bedroom has two full size single beds with a bathroom next door. It is equipped and furnished throughout to a very high standard, with almost everything you could possibly need for a totally relaxed holiday. The outside space is a paved courtyard garden with patio furniture a barbeque and off road parking. Equipment You will find full gas central heating, a four ring electric cooker, microwave, fridge (with freezer compartment), dishwasher, toaster, automatic washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board and iron. TV, DVD, radio (unfortunately ditgital is not yet being received in this area.) Extra we provide A basket of logs for the fire and any further logs and be purchased from the local shop, linen, towels, tea towels, washing up liquid and soaps. We also have a herb garden with chive, sage, fennel, mint and bay leaves which you are welcome to help yourself too. You will also find the OS maps of the area for your use and a laminated map of the area hanging on the wall, along with my favorite walking books, novels, games and a large selection of leaflets covering the tourist attractions in the area. Things to Do There is more to do or see than can possibly be listed here, but, as a start... Outdoor Activities There are wonderful walks along the many hills and dales, with Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale on your doorstep, along with the high peak or Monsal trails. We have Matlock just 4 miles and Bakewell just 5 miles down the road. There is also cycling at Middleton Top or Carsington Reservoir. With the Peak District National Park so close the walking is excellent. Tourist Attractions Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just a 5 minute drive down the road, whilst Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle are less than ½ an hours drive away. Matlock bath with Gulivers Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham is 5 minutes drive in the other direction but if it’s a steam train you are interest in then the local volunteers run a steam train from just outside Two Dales into Matlock. Buxton Opera House, welldressings and farmers markets are all within the local area. Pubs and Restaurants There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the local area. The Whitworth Park, is just 5 minutes walk, or alternatively, the Square and Compass and Three Stags heads are a 20 minutes walk along local footpaths and all serve food. Bakewell has a range of specially shop including the original Bakewell pudding shop, whilst Matlock has antique shops and also an art gallery from the famous wildlife artist Pollyanna Pickering.
