THE BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL LOCATION

The Orchards nestles on the valley side overlooking the river Manifold just a mile outside the pretty village of Ilam.

 -
It has amazing views towards Dovedale and beyond.

 - Bluebells and wild garlic carpet the adjacent woods and orchids abound on the barnfield.

 - Birdlife here is diverse, from tiny tree creepers to flashy kingfishers and majestic red kites.

 - If you are a walker, then this is Paradise.  Riverside strolls, moorland rambles, hikes up the hills, rock-climbing and everything in between.  There are miles of scenic tarmac trails too.

 - Pony trekking and bike hire locally.

The cottage is based on a working farm with cows and sheep.  Our land includes permanent pasture, woods and copses, lush meadows, cliff faces, marshy areas and a river - it is a perfect place for wild creatures and wonderful for you to explore.

In March, April and May, watch the lambing live and let the children feed the orphan lambs.  In June and July see Farmer Vic shear his sheep and have a go at fleece-wrapping.

In the autumn, take a trip down memory lane - pick blackberries for your jam, sloes for your gin, dig up pignuts in the pastures and collect mushrooms in the meadows.

Buy your puddings at Bakewell, walk in the footsteps of Mr Darcy at Chatsworth or Russell Crowe as Robin Hood in Dovedale.  Visit Ilam Sheepdog Trials, the Manifold Show or the local village fete.
And of course Alton Towers is just 6 miles.

The Orchards is also perfect as a romantic hideaway with special deals for couples.
