Tideswell                                                                                                                              Tideswell is an ancient village dating back to before Roman times. It is mentioned in the Doomsday Book as belonging to the larger parish of Hope. In the Middle Ages, Tideswell was a thriving market town selling local produce and was an important source of wool and lead. The village also held five important fairs each year, some of which can still be experienced in Tideswell and others in the surrounding towns and villages of the Peak District.
