Location

The attractive village of Chelmorton is located in the White Peak of the Peak District, in an area known as the Derbyshire Dales. The Village is a few miles south of Buxton, in the Heart of the Peak District. Chelmorton is a peaceful, secluded corner of the Peak District situated 1,200 feet above sea level.

Known locally for its fantastic pub and renowned internationally for the preservation of its striking ‘Strip Farming’ system which virtually disappeared across the UK in the 16th century. This sleepy old village has many traditional features preserved and has much to offer for lovers of the great outdoors.

The local pub named ‘The Church Inn’ has been restored in the last decade and serves great home cooked food throughout the day. Ideally situated between Buxton, Bakewell and Tideswell, there are many walks, cycle paths and opportunities to see what the Peak District National Park has to offer.

Buxton has international arts & performance festivals throughout the summer, with activities taking place in and around the town’s Opera House and spectacular gardens. There are many shops and supermarkets here and also a traditional market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Bakewell is another pretty ‘gem’ of the peak and has plenty of delicatessens, coffee shops and gift shops, and is of course home to the famous Bakewell pudding.

Tideswell is famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as The Cathedral of the Peak, Tideswell is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes, and has many fine country inns, a chemist, butchers, bakers and much more.

Chatsworth House is also within easy reach of Chelmorton, which can accommodate an entire day out with its range of gardens, adventure playgrounds, fine art collection, refreshments and spectacular stately home which is open to the public.

For those of you who seek a little adventure there is go-karting at Swain’s raceway, Go-Ape which is a variety of physical activities and zip wires suspended in the trees of Temple Woods, both of which are in Buxton. And also Alton Towers is also a 45 minute drive to the south.
