Within easy driving distance are the great houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Kedleston Hall, Lyme Hall (TV's Pride and Prejudice location) and others. The Spa town of Buxton (the highest market town in England) is only three miles away with its famous Opera House featuring a varied programme throughout the year. Renowned for its Buxton Festival fortnight with its opera and fringe concerts and the annual International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival. The Labyrinth of Limestone Also nearby can be found the labyrinth of limestone caved dressed with stalactites and stalagmites and where the prized stone Blue John is mined exclusively.
