Enjoy England 5 star rated Guest House in Buxton, Derbyshire. We have five wonderfully spacious rooms for you to relax, sit and sleep in. The premium here is on maximum comfort: comfy beds so many of our guests praise, quality supplies in the immaculate bathrooms, lots of period features and touches and above all outstanding hospitality. All rooms have supplies of coffee, tea and biscuits. Free wi-fi can be accessed in all bedrooms.

The Accommodation in detail
THE DUCHESS SUITE
A pride and a joy. Has a beautiful four-poster King-size bed, a shower room and a bathroom, two soft armchairs, a period dressing table and pretty co-ordinated drapes and a lovingly-worked three-foot stool with tapestry lid. Also has a flat screen 26 inch LCD TV and DVD player and a front garden view from two windows. Overall, a wonderful sense of space and feeling of comfort.

THE DUKE - SINGLE
Very pleasant sunny single room in a quiet alcove, with a terrific garden view. Has own washbasin and WC.

Travelling in a threesome? The Duke forms a triple booking with The Duchess Suite or with any of the other doubles + £30. Travelling in 2's but wishing to sleep apart, pay the price of a double plus £5 for the Duke, NB The Duke occupant shares the shower facility of their travelling companion.

THE CAVENDISH
Our lovely twin has two deep armchairs overlooking our spectacular one-acre garden, with a view to the Pennine hills beyond, and a spacious walk-in shower room en-suite. Cavendish also has a rare feature, a walk-in wardrobe, plus a French antique dressing table. 26 inch TV/DVD. The super king bed has the option of twin beds, this configuration will receive priority in room allocation.

THE DEVONSHIRE
Light, warm and welcoming, this en-suite double has a King-size bed, a wonderful nineteenth century walnut wardrobe, two windows looking out onto the glorious garden view, two armchairs, a dressing table and flat-screen 32inch TV/ DVD.

GRINLOW
Comfy-cosy Grinlow is an en-suite double furnished in smart pine with a double bed, comfy settee, 26 inch TV/DVD There is plenty of space for a restful stay.

THE ROOKERY
Large room with King size bed. The Rookery contains a very tasteful bathroom en-suite, a settee, a 32 inch TV, DVD player. You also overlook Grinlow woods and the garden front, and yes, there are rooks! . Duke.

Breakfast -
The truly authentic English B & B experience would not be complete without a really good breakfast. Just as well then that Grendon is the proud owner of a Enjoy England Breakfast award. Whether enthusiastic omnivore or confirmed vegetarian, at Grendon we spoil you for choice. Have a wholesome start to the day with home-made muesli, some fruit compote, fresh fruit salad, prunes and apricots, yogurt, followed by traditional English, medal winning black pudding perhaps? As an alternative you may have an omelette, pancakes, Staffordshire oatcake wrap, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Home baked bread makes for delicious toast.

Evening Meals - if required
Dinner is a feast of home cooking using locally sourced ingredients. However, dinner is offered to guests as an additional option. We do not, as a rule, offer a full half-board vacation, ie, dinner on several consecutive evenings. Do ring me to talk about dinner before you arrive. We of course will do our best to give you what you fancy - nothing is impossible!

Buxton and local area
The wonderful Buxton is one of our great historical Spa towns. It is also the highest market town in England. With the gathering fame and quality of its summer festivals and the new development surrounding the re-opening of the pump rooms, these are exciting times for local and visitor alike. Though still a place of enduring elegance and peacefulness, modern Buxton pulses with modern cultural activity.

It also makes a great base for a Derbyshire holiday. The A6 and A515 roads take you quickly and scenically to the pretty towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne, and to Chatsworth, the seat of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and Haddon Hall, a marvellous example of Elizabethan architecture. For those with a real love of country houses, you can reach the superb Hardwick Hall nr Chesterfield in about an hour. Lovely Kedleston Hall near Derby is also well worth a visit and is reachable in just under an hour. For those with a passion for industrial history, the World Heritage town of Cromford, the birthplace of Britain’s industrial revolution is only a 40 minute drive away.
