Full details: Oxspring is a charming 2 bedroom stone cottage sleeping 3, nestling on the hillside in the conservation area of the hamlet of Bolehill, approximately 4.5 miles from Matlock. The cottage is well equipped, pet friendly, and has all the comforts of home, including a beautiful enclosed cottage garden. It is ideal for exploring Derbyshire attractions, either by foot, car or cycling. A pleasant retreat for relaxing and enjoying your break, but sorry, we do not allow smoking.

Here’s what some of our guests have said:

"Another lovely relaxing week in this special place. It really feels like ‘home from home’ and the weather has been superb! Walks wonderful and Bob thoroughly enjoyed. We will hope to be back again in 08. Thank you. Didn’t see the hedgehog, but perhaps he is now hibernating. All the best."
Gill & Keith (& Bob of course!) Solihull

"Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely little cottage. We didn’t want for anything! It’s a little gem. The garden is lovely too. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to other couples/small families."
Deb & Eric, Middlesex

"Lovely cottage and in a good position to explore Derbyshire. Maisie enjoyed her walks and the garden. Nice gesture at the beginning of our holiday and will tell others about the cottage. Thank you."
Neil & Julia, Nottinghamshire

“Thank you very much. We’ve had a great week in your cosy comfortable cottage. It’s very well equipped and we’ve made good use of your maps, guidebooks and so on. We’ve enjoyed exploring the area and relaxing here.”
Andrew, Morage & Robert Mylne, Edinburgh

Full Details
The cottage is built of millstone grit and overlooks the valley to Wirksworth (approximately 15 minutes walk) where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants, etc.

It has a lovely cottage garden, fully enclosed, with patio, garden furniture and barbeque, plus a shed to store bicycles, should you wish to bring them with you.

It has a pine fitted kitchen, with gas cooker, washing machine, fridge, microwave, etc. and stable door overlooking the garden.

The living area has colour tv including freeview, dvd player, sofa & chair and dining table. Here there is an open fire (some fuel supplied) in a gritstone fireplace.

The stairs with stone feature wall leads to the double bedroom with original fireplace and victorian type bed and a single bedroom. There is a separate shower room with washhand basin and toilet.

This is a no smoking cottage. Quiet well behaved dog allowed. Gas central heating, linen, duvets and towels included in cost. As there are steps down to the cottage, this would be unsuitable for the less able.

Roadside parking (quiet residential area on no through road). There is a regular bus service between Bakewell and Belper, just about a 5 minutes walk away.

Attractions
Staying at Oxspring Cottage you will be within close proximity of many attractions and so much to do! It is part of a little hamlet in a conservation area and a stroll down the stoned footpath through the pleasant meadows will take you into the market town of Wirksworth, full of character, history, and architecture.

The cottage itself is about 10 minutes walk to the High Peak Trail, suitable for walking and cycling, and near to the Black Rocks, where you could try your skills at rock climbing and abseiling or just relax and have a picnic.

There are many beautiful walks just from the door and maps and leaflets are available for your use. Attractions not too far away are: Chatsworth House and Park, Matlock (Heights of Abraham, cable cars etc), Bakewell, Ashbourne, Crich (famous Tram Village), Alton Towers (approx 22 miles), beautiful Dovedale and Carsington Water with its visitor centre, sailing, cycling, watersports, restaurant and children’s play area, plus much more to visit in the area!
