Full details: 5 star rated Hope Farm House and a 4 star rated Barn offer luxury, self catering accommodation (sleeping 10 guests in a total of 6 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms) in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District very close to the village of Alstonefield (good food pub) near Dovedale and Ashbourne. It is not to be confused with Hope near Castleton which is towards the north of the Peak District.
- Dating from the early 18th century, the farm and buildings were rescued from near dereliction in the 1980s. All the original features had survived and were lovingly preserved. The old stone flags were lifted, levelled and replaced. The scullery even has the original wash-copper, fire-range and stone salting thrawl.
In the garden, behind a faded old blue door is a rare surviving example of a family earth closet, with two large seats and a little one.

This is an exceptionally lovely and tranquil spot, and your party will be the only one staying here. To ensure that you are undisturbed, we either let the farmhouse on its own or with the barn, or we let the barn on its own - we do not let them separately.

This beautiful old farmhouse sleeps eight guests comfortably, all in lovely, high quality beds, some of which are antique. It is let as self catering holiday accommodation either on its own or with the barn across the yard, which extends the sleeping capacity to ten. The village is one of the loveliest and the farmhouse is one of the prettiest houses in the Peak District. It has been restored to the most exacting standards and furnished with antiques and country furniture. Various pieces and textiles from around the world, such as Persian rugs and Afghan kelims in stunning colours, reflect a love of travel and years living in India.

Hope Farm House comprises a cosy sitting room with a log stove; a stunning dining room; a fully equipped kitchen with a Lacanche double-oven cooker; an old-fashioned scullery for boots and cold store; and a really sunny conservatory. There are three double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, two single attic bedrooms, and two additional bathrooms.

The conservatory is a lovely place for breakfast, and the dining room, with its dark oak table, open fire and candles, is perfect for a celebratory dinner.

4 star rated - The Barn provides ideal self catering holiday accommodation for a couple in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District. It is usually let with the farmhouse, providing a combined sleeping capacity of ten, but it can be booked on its own in low season or on a last minute basis. If you do book the barn on its own, you might find the owners staying in the house - who are a fount of information about local walks, food, shopping, swimming and bilberries! - otherwise, you will be on your own here.
- Like the farmhouse, the barn has retained all of its original features and character. It makes a very spacious and unusual place for two to stay. Our guests come here again and again.

The ground floor has a comfortable sitting room with a log stove; a separate dining room; a kitchen; and a cosy double bedroom with an ensuite shower room.

Upstairs, reached by external stone steps, is a recreation room with a three-quarter size snooker table, piano and library.

Round the barn are the sheltered stone yards, complete with mossy old feeding troughs, where the pigs once rootled about.

Hope Farm House & Barn are located in the hamlet of Hope Dale within the Peak District National Park. It is immediately south west of the picturesque village of Alstonefield, one mile from Dovedale and just seven miles from Ashbourne.
- The house nestles in the hills between the Rivers Dove and Manifold on the border of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Its excellent position means that it is well suited for exploring all the Peak District, as well as Alton Towers and the Potteries.
